The Warren B. Rudman Center for Justice, Leadership & Public Service at the ����ֱ�� Franklin Pierce ����ֱ�� is honored to celebrate the nominations of two of its board members, Dana Remus and Jake Sullivan, to top posts within the administration of President-elect Joe Biden.

Ms. Remus will serve as White House counsel and Mr. Sullivan will serve as national security advisor.  

“President-elect Joe Biden has chosen both wisely and well. These are two remarkable people who will serve with honor and distinction. They embody the goals of the Rudman Center to encourage and recognize public service,” said Rudman Advisory Board Co-Chairs Thomas Rath and Ned Helms, in a joint statement.

“These appointments are of even more significance to the Rudman Center as U.S. Senator Warren B. Rudman, in whose memory the Center is named, was a close friend and valued colleague of President-elect Biden when they served together in the U.S. Senate from 1981-1993,” they noted. “Senator Biden chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee during the confirmation hearings of U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter, and spoke at the Senate Memorial service held in honor of Senator Rudman upon his passing.”

Dana Remus

Ms. Remus presently serves as general counsel of the Biden-Harris campaign. Prior to that, she served as general counsel to the Obama Foundation and as deputy assistant to the president and deputy counsel for ethics during the Obama Administration. She also has been a faculty member at the University of North Carolina ����ֱ��, the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline ����ֱ��, and the ����ֱ�� Franklin Pierce ����ֱ��. She is an expert on legal and judicial ethics. She clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. and Judge Anthony J. Scirica of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. A New Hampshire native, she graduated from Harvard College and Yale Law School.

Jake Sullivan

Mr. Sullivan presently serves as a senior policy advisor to President-elect Biden. He is also a senior fellow with UNH’s Carsey School of Public Policy and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Brady-Johnson Distinguished Practitioner in Grand Strategy at Yale University. He served in the Obama administration as national security adviser to Vice President Biden, director of policy planning at the U.S. Department of State, and deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  He helped lead the secret diplomacy that paved the way for the Iran nuclear deal in 2015, and had a key role in negotiations that led to a ceasefire in Gaza in 2012.  Mr. Sullivan also co-founded and co-chaired National Security Action, a leading national security advocacy organization.  He has served on advisory boards for organizations involved in national security and foreign relations, and has published on U.S. foreign and domestic policy in numerous publications. A graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School, he earned a MPhil degree in international relations from Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.  He lives in New Hampshire with his wife, Maggie Goodlander, who is also a member of the Rudman Center Advisory Board.

Greabe, director of the Warren B. Rudman Center and professor of law at UNH Franklin Pierce ����ֱ��. “There could be no better role models for students who want to make a positive impact on the world through civic engagement, public service, and public-interest lawyering," he emphasized.

The Rudman Center Advisory Board meets twice annually to advise on Center programming and to support internships and employment opportunities for UNH Franklin Pierce law students.  Board members provide strategic direction to ensure that Center initiatives align with Senator Rudman’s legacy by training the next generation of leaders to seek justice, serve their country, and work together for the common good.
