UNH Franklin Pierce Hosts Collaborative Divorce New Hampshire at Its Concord Campus

The event celebrated the first anniversary of the passage of the NH Uniform Collaborative Law Act

金莲直播 Franklin Pierce 金莲直播 hosted Collaborative Divorce NH (CDNH) on October 11. The event celebrated the first anniversary of the passage of the NH Uniform Collaborative Law Act (UCLA), which is a voluntary, contractually based alternative dispute resolution process for parties who seek to negotiate a resolution of their matter rather than having a ruling imposed upon them by a court or arbitrator. CDNH was founded by a handful of members of the NH Bar who had too often seen the damage done to families embroiled in the litigation process.

According to CDNH, this 鈥21st century鈥 approach to dispute resolution provides privacy, allows self-determination, saves time and money, and better protects children compared to traditional divorce proceedings inside the public court system. Through collaborative divorce, divorcing parents can restructure their relationship as co-parents. A member organization of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, CDNH鈥檚 mission is to resolve disputes respectfully.

At the event, UNH Franklin Pierce students learned about the advantages of Collaborative Divorce, as presented by CDNH professionals on topics such as process, practice, and policy.

鈥淲e were delighted to host the attorneys and other professionals from Collaborative Law New Hampshire to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the NH UCLA,鈥 said Assistant Dean for Career Services, Neil Sirota. 鈥淎t UNH Franklin Pierce, we strive to ensure that students are exposed to the most cutting-edge aspects of the law.  At this event, students were able to learn about how an idea develops into a policy and then how that policy is applied in practice.鈥
