At the end of the summer, Assistant Dean for Graduate Admissions and International Outreach Sarah Dorner joined colleagues from several other American and European law schools on a 10-day trip to India to visit law schools, meet prospective students, and share information about the LLM program at UNH Franklin Pierce. Dorner hopes her visit will ultimately strengthen the law school鈥檚 presence and connections in the Indian market.

The 鈥渢raveling mini law fair鈥 was organized by Gen Next Education, which offers 鈥渃omprehensive support to enhance global student recruitment efforts through in-person, expert-curated undergraduate recruitment tours, specialized graduate recruitment tours, and events around the world.鈥

During the trip, Dorner joined counterparts as they visited eight different law schools in three cities: Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Delhi. The mission was primarily student recruitment for UNH Franklin Pierce鈥檚 LLM program, but also an opportunity for Dorner to explore partnership opportunities with Indian law schools. During each stop, Dorner made a presentation about the program and was on hand to answer individual questions from prospective students.

The primary objective was student recruitment,鈥 Dorner says, 鈥渂ut a key way to achieve that is through partnerships with Indian law schools. This trip was a great way to connect with law school administrators and learn more about opportunities to collaborate.鈥

Along with the scheduled visits and presentations, the American and European law school representatives also held a reception in Delhi, where they hosted students, faculty, young professionals, and alumni for a networking event that provided an opportunity to connect with representatives and one another.

With more than 30% of students currently enrolled in the residential LLM program hailing from India, the country is a strong market for UNH Franklin Pierce due to a robust alumni network and interest from young lawyers in studying law in the U.S. In addition to exploring new partnerships, Dorner鈥檚 visit to India also offered a chance for UNH Franklin Pierce to deepen relationships with existing partners, which could lead to more opportunities for collaboration, such as faculty exchanges, which allow students in India to meet UNHFP professors in person.

The trip also provided a chance for Dorner to connect with the law school鈥檚 network of alumni in India, who serve not only as strong ambassadors but as a resource for prospective students.

In Bangalore, Abhishek Sharma, LLM 鈥06 joined Dorner for a day of law school visits, where he shared his personal experience of how earning an LLM helped to advance his career. Gaurav Miglani, LLM 鈥06 accompanied Dorner to partner school Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies in Delhi to present on UNH Franklin Pierce鈥檚 LLM and IP programs, while Saumya Agarwal, LLM 鈥23, Pooja Dood, LLM 鈥02, and Punita Bhargava, LLM 鈥01 spoke with prospective students at the reception in Delhi.

鈥淚鈥檝e worked closely with our partners, alumni, and students from India for a number of years now,鈥 Dorner says, 鈥渟o for me it was such a privilege to finally be able to go there in person and experience the people and the culture.鈥
