Student Spotlight: Josh Sprague Oliveira, JD '25
"I chose to come to UNH Law to pursue my interest in patent law because of the school鈥檚 reputation in intellectual property. After experiencing the school鈥檚 collaborative atmosphere, the resources for ensuring student success, and the opportunities available, I know I made the right choice."
Q: What is one tip you have for prospective students thinking about attending law school?
A: A lot of people think they鈥檝e 鈥渇igured out鈥 law school, but there鈥檚 not a one-size-fits-all way to outline, take an exam, or find a job. My one tip, ironically, would be to take advice you鈥檙e given with a grain of salt. Don鈥檛 be afraid to try out different strategies to forge your own path.
Q: What is your favorite part of law school?
A: My favorite part of law school is how you can truly choose your own adventure. The law is everywhere, so through it, you can engage with all aspects of life. During law school, I鈥檝e been able to grow professionally, learning about topics from patent law to space law. But I鈥檝e also grown personally, engaging with the community and making lifelong relationships.
Q: Can you share a project or initiative you're currently working on?
A: One project I鈥檓 currently working on is starting up a Space Law moot court team with Paul Hancock and Jacob Nardone. We鈥檙e excited to pioneer this new opportunity for students while exploring all things space law.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: After graduation, I鈥檒l be joining Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner in their Washington, D.C. office, where I鈥檓 excited to start my career as a patent litigator
