These experiences have motivated me to pursue a career dedicated to public service and expanding access to justice."

Carolyn Kostka attributes her interest in environmental advocacy to her experiences growing up in Alaska, where she saw first-hand the devastating damage caused by oil spills.

"I aspire to hold oil and mining companies accountable when oil spills and mining accidents happen and to advocate for stronger preventative measures to avoid the incidents altogether," she said in her Rudman Scholars application. "Oil spills contaminate waterways, resulting in a decline of fish. This disturbs a major food source and way of life for the Native tribes and locals." .

In her first semester at the UNH Franklin Pierce 金莲直播, Carolyn restarted the Environmental Law Society.  As a Rudman Summer Fellow, she is working at the U.S. Department of Energy this summer.  She plans to pursue a career in government agencies or non-profits that advocate for protecting natural resources and more responsible harvesting practices.

Rudman Scholars scholarships are renewable and are awarded to two current students who demonstrate, and attest to, an intention to work for a government agency or non-profit that serves vulnerable or underserved populations after their graduation. Recipients also agree to serve as ambassadors for, and to support the work of, the Rudman Center. This support can include helping with program publicity and initiatives, attending receptions, and working to increase the Center鈥檚 positive impact on the school and community.

The Warren B. Rudman Center for Justice, Leadership & Public Service at the UNH Franklin Pierce 金莲直播 serves as a hub for public discourse on the policies and current events that shape our society. It provides programmatic and financial support for students interested in exploring careers in public service while supporting public programming and academic inquiry that align with its mission. The Center honors former U.S. Senator Warren B. Rudman, also the state鈥檚 attorney general, who was widely admired for his integrity and willingness to work with politicians across the aisle to advance the public interest.
